Sadly, no message was recorded today, due to a missing MP3 recorder.
Still no MP3 recorder available on this Sunday where we celebrated Epiphany.
Happily, the missing MP3 recorder has finally been found. Apparently it was taken on a trip to Saskatchewan, and this detail, was rather inconveniently forgotten (until it was eventually discovered in my garment bag). Today's service was an intergenerational service, during which we explored together the idea of being "called" by God. It was not recorded.
Today's sermon looks at the subject of calling through the lens of one of the most reluctant (and therefore, most believable) prophets of the Old Testament -- the prophet Jonah.
A sermon that examines the way in which the "Unconditional Acceptance of Jesus" (in the words of Rev. Peter Woods, to whom I am indebted for this sermon) is met with violent opposition -- and what God intends to do about it.
